Warm Bodies
by: Isaac Marion
R is a young man with an existential crisis - he is a zombie. He shuffles throught an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams
After experiencing a teenage boy's memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim's human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His decision to protect her will transform not only R but also his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.
I can honestly say that I loved this book. And can I just say thank goodness? Because it's been a while since I could actually get through a book without wanting to put it down and do something else.
I started reading this in the airport, and finished before the plane landed, which kind of sucked because I really wanted MORE R!!!
R was an excellent leading zombie man. He was thoughtful and insightful and wanting so much more from his zombie life. His descriptions of what he did during the day had me giggling, and I loved how he told his story. I loved the fact that when the zombies eat other peoples brains they got to re-live that persons memories. Fan- freakin- tastic!
Favorite line: "My friend "M" says the irony of being a zombie is that everything is funny, but you can't smile because your lips have rotted off."
If you don't like random descriptions of how throats are being ripped out and blood gets spattered everywhere, then this is probably not the book for you. However, if you don't mind a little violence, a tinsy bit of romance, and lessons on how to take down a human for consumption, then this will be a great read for you.

The Pirate Ruse
The Pirate Ruse
By: Marcia Lynn McClure
An instant before the sea swallowed her, Cristabel Albay gasped her last breath. She was certain it would truly be her last breath... Yet, mere moments later, her head broke the surface of the sea and she exhaled the breath she had been holding-the one that had not been her last-gasping for another.
"Do you swim, woman?" the pirate Navarrone growled.
"Y-yes," Cristabel stammered. her thoughts were muddled-for panic was her only ally. Yet, she was cognizant enough to know that her life was still in danger-not from pirates perhaps-but from the sea.
"Then swim!" the pirate growled. "If you want to live to see another sunrise, then swim for The Merry Wench."
She glanced up to the Chichester where pirates and British sailors yet battled. The Screaming Witch was already sailing, and Cristabel would rather have died then be the victim of the atrocities that would have met her aboard it.
Yet, to abandon one pirate ship for another It was madness! Still, she could not fathom drowning-for drowning terrified her more than any other fate of death. Her only hope in surviving was to do as the pirate ordered. She had heard tales of The Blue Blade Navarrone-tales of mercy. Perhaps he would take pity on her. Thus with no other venue to follow, Cristabel began to swim-to swim for The Merry Wench and whatever fate awaited her there.
I guess when I started reading this book I didn't expect it to be so cheesy. Cristabel would just annoy the crap out of me sometimes!
I enjoyed the first half of the book with Navarrone and Cristabel getting to know each other. I loved their banter and the entire scene when Cristabel was drunk on whiskey. It was hilarious! But right around the middle of the book, for me, the pace just seemed to slow down. It was especially torturous when the ship finally docked and the plot went NOWHERE. I mean, there is this whole mystery as to why Cristabel was abducted and put onto a pirate ship in the first place, and Navarrone questions her about it initially when he brings her to his own ship, but she's got no idea either so it just kind of ends up as a stalemate. Then for more than half the book McClure just develops the relationship between Cristabel and Navarrone. Not that I'm complaining about that, I mean, I loved that part. Loved them conversing, and learning to trust each other, and discovering their feelings for each other. It just happened SO SLOWLY. It was like I was reading through molasses. They just sat around and thought about their feelings for one another, but never acted on them. Then finally we get some good kiss scenes. Honestly I was hoping for the kiss scenes to lead into some hot monkey lovin' but alas it was not to be.
So, I liked it well enough, I just wish the plot moved a long a little faster and smoother. If you're looking for some good squeaky clean pirate lovin' romance, this is the book for you!

Cats are always right
So over the weekend, Husband and I went out to do some shopping and other random things. I convinced him with my wiles to go to the bookstore with me. I found the silliest things there!
HAHA! Yes they are what you think they are! And if you don't know what they are because my crappy phone doesn't take all that great of pictures than I shall tell you that they are OVEN MITS! LOL
Don't you think the guy on the right in the second row looks like the Bounty Man? Bahaha! Thank you book store for selling these! I had a good laugh!
Sunday night I still wasn't feeling good after going to a friends house and drinking too many margaritas so I started reading The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller.
Ugh, I don't even want to talk about this book. Even my cat didn't want me to finish it. You see that evil look she's giving me?
The Eternal Ones

Haven Moore has always lived in the tiny town of Snope City, Tennessee. But for as long as she can remember, Haven has experienced visions of a past life as a girl named Constance, whose love for a boy called Ethan ended in a fiery tragedy
One day, the sight of notorious playboy Iain Morrow on television brings Haven to her knees. Haven flees to New York City to find Ian and there, she is swept up in an epic love affair that feels both deeply fated and terribly dangerous. Is Iain her beloved Ethan? Or is her her murderer in a past life? Haven asks member of the powerful and mysterious Oroboros Society to help her unlock the mysteries of reincarnation and discover the secrets hidden in her past lives, and loves, before all is lost and the cycle begins again. But what is the Ouroboros Society? And how can Haven know who to trust?
Let me try to say this nicely. Haven is a dumbass. She flip flops more than a dying fish on land. I love Iain. So and so says to stay away from Iain so I hate him now. How dare he lie to me?! Iain kissed me, I trust him now. I hate you Haven. I wish you would have died in the fire. You and Iain are boring, boring characters and I really hope there is no sequel. GRR
It's a shame I read this book after reading what is probably one of my favorite reads of the year, Revolution by Jennifer Connelly. Maybe I'll just wait till next year before I read any more books so I can just savor the good feelings Revolution left me with.
BAH

Once an Itchy Witch
Hehe just kidding, thats actually not the name of the book. But a big virtual hug to whoever can tell me what book "itchy witch" is from ;)
I actually read Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough
Tamsin Greene comes from a long line of witches, and she was supposed to be one of the most Talented among them. But Tamsin's magic never showed up. Now seventeen, Tamsin attends boarding school in Manhattan, far from her family. But when a handsome young professor mistakes her for her very Talented sister, Tamsin agrees to find a lost family heirloom for him. The search—and the stranger—will prove to be more sinister than they first appeared, ultimately sending Tamsin on a treasure hunt through time that will unlock the secret of her true identity, unearth the sins of her family, and unleash a power so vengeful that it could destroy them all. This is a spellbinding display of storytelling that will exhilarate, enthrall, and thoroughly enchant.
This is the book cover that I read from:
And this is the book cover I wish that I got to read from:
What's so great about half faces anyways?
Oh yeah this was a good book. I really liked Tasmin even if every time I read her name I called her tasmanian devil.
I really didn't think I was going to like this book. Especially when I got about 13 pages into and seriously considered reading my other library book. Don't ask me why, I just wasn't really liking Tasmin. Especially after she was talking about her flirting skills. Maybe it's because there was a cat in the scene? And then after reading about the cat, I pictured my cats in this little witch hat that BFF bought for them and I giggled for a bit and then continued reading. I'm so glad I kept reading!
Anywho I think the summary above pretty much gets the gist of the plot so I won't really elaborate anymore. Except to point out that Tasmin has a booooyfriend Tasmin has a booooyfriend. And YAY no stupid love triangle weeee! I totally like Gabriel, but I wish he had a tad more personality. Like maybe "_____" that much more. Here's hoping we get more Gabriel in the next book, which I most definitely will be reading.
Hmm I think the quality of my half ass reviews is getting worse HAHA! But I have two things to blame:
1. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
2. HARRY POTTER IS COMING OUT!
Hell yes I am jumping on train stop at 9 3/4! Nine and three quarters.

Don't ask me why my Harry Potter looks so evil. I've got no idea. OR maybe he's winking? Yeah sure. I think I need a Harry Potter marathon! Books and movie! It's been so long since I've read/seen either!
Itchy witch....
