Blog Hop!

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy-for-Books!

This weeks question is:

"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?"

I use to stick it out.  Forced myself to finish and I remember being SO angry when I was done with the book wondering why I wasted so much time torturing myself.  The last book I did this for was Angels and Demons by Dan Brown.  UGH NEVER AGAIN!!!!

So after this is when I implemented my "read at least until page 50 to 100" (yeah yeah my rule is totally lenient.)  Actually sometimes I won't even read that long.  Life is too short to be torturing myself!  Maybe someday I'll go back and read the ones that I.........no, no I wont  :)

MEOW!

Hopping by to visit and follow! I learned the "don't torture yourself while reading" rule the hard way, too. Then I realized that I read for enjoyment! If I'm in pain, something is wrong. :-) Love your blog title and the Emily Dickinson reference.

Hey following you back. Did you know their is a book with the same title of your blog. It's about two ghosts that fall in love and one has a body but one doesn't and they are trying to find a body for her so they can touch. It was written in 2005 but it's on my tbr list. It sounds really good. Look it up!

Happy Friday!

Life is too short to be torturing myself!

Amen to that! Even though I'd like to be able to say that I've finished all the books I've started, sometimes they just get too tedious and I feel the need to move on to something I'll actually enjoy reading!

Blog Hopper here! I did it last week and fell in love with it! I remember once, I started to read a book and I just didn’t like it. A couple of years later, I picked it up again (yes, I forgot I’d read part of it). This time my tastes had changed and I absolutely Loved the book from the start to finish. So you never know. If you can’t get into it, put it aside for another time. I do.

Ummm, Follow Friday recommended read: Trouble in a Stetson by Regina Carlysle.

Followed you!

Great answer! I like to push through, but I usually do that by putting it down and coming back in a few days, or by starting another book and reading two at the same time - that way I can say to myself "ok, read 50 pages and then you get to read the really good book!" (Doesn't always work though!)

Just stopping by for the hop!!! Great answer to the hopping question!!! I don't think I would ever get into Dan Brown's books, I would get too confused, thats why I stick with romances, much easier, and much more my style. Hope you are having a good weekend!!

Feel free to come on over to my place at Addicted To Romance

Happy Reading!

Haha maybe I should take your approach to reading then :) Less stress is always a good thing! Thanks for stopping by! Hopefully, you won't come across too many books you hate.

Hopping by to say hi :)

If I find that I'm really not getting into a book, I'll push myself to finish unless it's truly terrible!! If it's ridiculous or boring me to tears, then I might as well quit. I figure that if I get to the point where I'm ready to throw in the towel - there's no sense in trying to review it since it'll be unfavorable anyway (ya know?)

I've only ever not finished one book.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by my site today and for your sweet comment on my book cover! :) I totally agree with you...WHY torture ourselves when there are so many good things out there to read?? Have fun with it! Reading is an escape, I don't want to feel like I'm in prison while doing it!! :/
Have a super day!

Hia, thanks fo visiting my blog! My similar rules came up from almost giving up on books I ended up loving, most notably Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (I still skip the first few chapters when re-reading) and Captain Correli's Mandolin

I wish I could give up on books more easily. Problem is, when I buy most of my books, I feel like I'm wasting money if I don't finish them.

Just stopping by from the Hop. Have a great weekend!

Glad to have found you via the Hop. I totally agree with you - I don't stick with books I don't like. I just don't see the point, you know??

thanks for stopping by my blog, im following you back! and i think i'll soon adopt the 100 page rule or something, ive forced myself to read some pretty dreadful books..

Happy HOP! Don't you just hate it when everything inside you is screaming for you to stop but because of some sense of obligation you keep going. I did this with The Hollow and traumatized myslef so much that I was furiously ranting, mad as heck for hours after I'd finished. Could've saved myself alot of heartache if I'd stopped when I first realized the need. I'm like you now. If reading's becoming a chore, I stop and decide later if I'll try again.

Thanks for coming by :)

I actually haven't read Angels and Demons, but I think you're the first person I've seen nay-say it! Did you write a review?!

I do the 100 page deal too. :)

Awww, cute kitty! <3

This is a response to your comments on my blog :)
LOL! I've been tempted to throw books, don't worry! Vampire Knight is a manga. I don't suggest you read it. It's FRUSTRATING if you're Team Zero like I am. URGH. Now THAT is one manga I'd like to throw at the manga-ka. I'd like to throw her entire series at her, to be honest.

I heard a lot of good things about Angels & Demons, so I'm surprised you didn't like it. =s I liked the movie; is it very different from that?

And, thank you for stopping by this week! <3

I also really disliked Angels and Demons .. and it's still sitting, unfinished, on my bookshelf. Maybe I should find it a good home.
